Abstract

A field experiment was carried out at Research Cum Instructional Farm, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur during kharif season of 2013 to study the effect of four genotypes viz. KU 96-3 (V1), Indira Urd Pratham (V2), IU-02-01 (V3) and IU-02-03 (V4) and three planting geometry viz. 30 cm x 5 cm (S1), 30 cm x 10 cm(S2) and 30 cm x 15 cm (S3) on yield attributes and yield of Urdbean in Chhattisgarh plains. Results revealed that yield parameters viz. pods plant-1, seeds pod-1, seeds plant-1 and 100 seed weight (g) were highest under Urdbean genotype Indira Urd Pratham (V2) which ultimately gave highest seed yield, Stover yield and harvest index. Among planting geometry 30 cm x 10 cm (S2) spacing was found to be better yielder than 30 cm x 15 cm (S3) and 30 cm x 5 cm (S1) spacing. However, wider planting geometry of 30 cm x 15 cm (S3) was found to be superior in terms of individual yield parameters. But finally, seed yield was highest in planting geometry of 30 cm x 10 cm (S2) due to more number of plants per unit area. Urdbean genotypes sown with a planting geometry of 30 cm x 5 cm (S1) recorded maximum Stover yield.
