INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SCENARIO OF PYRILLA PERPUSILLA (WALKER) IN SUGARCANE CROP

Abstract

Sugarcane is one of the major cash crops in India and cultivated under diverse agro climatic condition in about 84 countries of the world and hence a large number of insect pest damage the crop. These crops host wide range of insect pests including lepidopterans, Pyrilla, scale insect, white fly, aphids, termite, white grub damage these crops throughout the world. Yield losses caused by sugarcane crop can exceed 50 per cent in Brazil, India, China, Pakistan Thailand and Mexico. Sugarcane sucking pest, leaf hopper Pyrilla perpusilla (Walker) (Hemiptera: Lophopidae) is the most distractive in sub tropical region and using Integrated management practices such as cultural, mechanical biological and chemical control practices for managing of Pyrilla perpusilla is discussed in this review.
