POPULATION DYNAMICS OF MELON FLY, BECTROCERA CUCURBITAE (COQUILLETT) ON SPONGE GOURD AND CORRELATION WITH ABIOTIC FACTORS

Shikhar Desai and B.L. Jakhar

Abstract

In population dynamics of fruit fly on sponge gourd fruits started in the second week of September (11.33 %) i.e. six weeks after sowing of the crop and increased gradually. The infestation reached to its peak in the third week of October (43.98 %) and then declined gradually. Significant correlation was computed between fruit fly and maximum temperature. Correlation between fruit fly and minimum temperature, bright sunshine hours was non-significant. Negative non-significant correlation was computed between fruit fly and average relative humidity, rain fall.
