PRODUCTIVITY ENHANCEMENT TECHNOLOGY DISSEMINATION FOR PIGEON PEA CULTIVATION IN RAISEN DISTRICT OF MADHYA PRADESH THROUGH FRONT LINE DEMONSTRATIONSwapnil Dubey and P. K. DwivediAbstract Pigeon pea is an important pulse crop of Madhya Pradesh grown in 3.23 lakh ha of land producing 2.38 Million tonnes with a low productivity of 737 kg/ha. It is also one of the most important pulse crop of Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh grown in 28.8 thousand hectare producing 18.1 thousand tonnes with the average Productivity of 6.27 kg/ha. The study was carried out during Kharif 2008-09 to 2012-13 at farmers field of adopted village of District Raisen. Front line demonstration on pigeon pea crop was conducted in an area of 25 ha with active participants of 60 farmers with the objective to demonstrate the latest technology of pigeon pea production potential, analysis of extension gap, technology gap, technology index, economic benefit of improved technology. The Result revealed that maximum grain yield 17.20 q/ ha was recorded during Kharif 2012-13 with an increase in 38.15 % over local check (12.45 q/ ha). Improved technology of pigeon pea recorded progressively increased average grain yield during five year of study from 14.00 q /ha to 17.20 q /ha with a range of 38.15 to 53.06 percent increase over farmer practices. In addition to increase in yield of pigeon pea, mean extension gap, technology gap, technology index, was found 4.65, 9.43 and 37.74 percent respectively.
