Abstract

Disposal of industrial waste copper slag (CS) has great matter of concern from environmental consideration. Construction industry finds sustainable way to utilize CS as a partial replacement of cement in concrete. The effect of CS on the mechanical properties of concrete was workout. Five concrete mixes (C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5) were prepared by replacing cement with 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% of CS by mass respectively. Mechanical properties of concrete mixes were tested after 7, 28 and 90 days of curing. Results indicate that at the 90th day of curing CS blended cement concrete provides better mechanical properties than normal cement concrete and CS blended cement concrete was also economical than normal cement concrete.
