INVESTIGATION OF TEMPORAL TRENDS IN WATER QUALITY VARIABLES IN SLYMANSHAH DAMS, IRAN USING MANN- KENDALL INDEX

Fariborz Yosefvand1 and Jalal Jalili

Abstract

Water, a vital material, always contains a wide range of salts, suspended materials, solute gas, naturally, as well as some specials compounds come from industrial activity. Tobi present some salts in the water are specifically important for the humane health, but their changes caused to make threats the humane life. The understanding of the water quality condition and its time changes within sustainable management of water resources are importantly vital, this research evaluated the time variation process of the water quality within the solymanshah Dam. In order to investigate, taking monthly data was to be done duringoneyear, Nitrate (NO3–), Phosphate(PO4–2), Sulphate(SO4–2),Calcium(Ca+2), Magnesium (Mg+2), Sodium(Na+), Potassium(K+), Chlorine (CL-), Water heat degree, Suspended solid (TSS), Solute solid (TDS), Acidity (pH), Electrical conductivity (Ec), Alkalinity, Total hardness, Turbidity(N.T.U), Color(TCU), Chemical oxygen (COD), Organic carbon(TOC), Coliform also were to be studied. In order to research variables process, it is also to be used non parametric statistical method (Mann-Kendall test). The trending results showed that a majority of the variables are with non-trend. Three variables (TSS, pH, NO3) have increasing process significantly and only one variable (N.T.U) has decreasing trend significantly.
