ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF SELF HELP GROUPS RELATING TO GOAT REARING AND BUFFALO DAIRY ENTERPRISES IN LATUR DISTRICT OF MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

Abstract

This study was undertaken to determine socio-economic characteristics of shelf help groups (SHGs), purpose of micro-finance in SHG, costs, returns and profitability of SHGs, its impact on family budget, constraints and suggestions and also feeling of members after joining SHGs. This study was conducted in Latur district of Maharashtra state. Primary data was collected during 2008-09 from two self help group members. Tabular analysis, cost concept i.e., cost A, cost b and cost C, frequency and percentage methods are used. The annual expenditure on goat rearing of Hari-om self help group was Rs. 95033.60 while return was Rs. 122600.00 similarly the annual expenditure on buffalo rearing of Jai-Hanuman self help group was Rs. 268640.00 while return was Rs. 292400.00
