SCREENING OF COTTON RECOMINANT INBRED LINES FOR DIFFERENT FOLIAR DISEASES AND SUCKING PESTS UNDER NATURAL CONDITIONYallappa Harijan, Nishanth G.K.,Pavithra, K. P., Katageri, I. S and Khadi, B. MAbstract One hundred and ninety cotton RILs were screened during Kharif, 2012-13 at Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad Farm, University of Agricultural Sciences Dharwad. Response of these recombinant inbred lines (RILs) to different diseases and pests were recorded under unprotected condition. None of the recombinant inbred lines showed immune reaction to all three diseases (Alternaria, bacterial blight and grey mildew), whereas three were grouped into highly resistant, 29 were moderately resistant and 7 were moderately susceptible. Among all RILs, only 17 were resistant, 35 were tolerant, 19 were susceptible and 15 were showed highly susceptible to both thrips and jassids. For all diseases and pests, the resistant RILs showed higher seed cotton yield over the susceptible RILs.
