V.R. Naik, P. B. Patel and B. K. Patel

Abstract

For studying the effect of levels and schedule of N fertigation in castor (rabi) an experiment was conducted on Vertic Halaquepts of Coastal Soil Salinity Research Station, Navsari Agricultural University, Danti (Gujarat) during 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12. The treatment consisted of three levels each of N (N1: 60, N2: 80 and N3: 120 kg N/ha) and fertigation frequencies (F1:10 days-12 splits, F2: 15 days-8 splits and F3: 20 days-6 splits). The treatment N3 among N levels and F1 among fertigation interval registered significantly higher seed yield of castor (N3: 3348 kg/ha and F1: 3299 kg/ha) as compared to their respective lower levels. The interaction effect was also found to be significant on seed yield of castor. Treatment N3F1 (4110 kg/ha) and N3F2 (4012 kg/ha) remained at par with each other, but both were significantly superior over rest of the treatments. These treatments also registered higher BCR values (N3F1:4.08 and N3F2: 4.00) and net profit (N3F1:1,15,518 and N3F2: 1,12,328 Rs/ha).
