STUDIES OF PHYSICAL CHANGES OCCUR AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF GROWTH IN SOME MANGO (MANGIFERA INDICA L.) CULTIVARS

Abstract

The experiment entitled “Studies on physical characters of mango (Mangifera indica L.) cultivars.” Was conducted at ASPEE ollege of Horticulture and Forestry, Navsari Agriculture University, Navsari. In this experiment eight cultivars of mango viz., Sonpari, Alphonso, Kesar, Dashehari, Rajapuri, Totapuri, Ratna, Amrapalli. The experiment was laid out in completely randomized design (CRD) with eight treatments and three repetitions. Regarding Physical characters, the fruits of cv. Totapuri recorded maximum fruit length (cm) at pre mature, mature and ripe stages and the lowest stone percentage (%) at marble stage. Rajapuri performed better for fruit diameter (cm), fruit weight (g), pulp percentage (%), stone percentage (%), fruit volume (cm3) and Pulp: stone ratio.
