Brajkishor Prajapati, Avikal Kumar and Kewalanand

Abstract

Field experiment was conducted during kharif 2012 and 2013 at Instructional Dairy Farm, G.B.P.U.A&T., Pantnagar (India) to evaluate optimum nitrogen and spatial requirement of sweet sorghum for bio-ethanol production. The values for growth parameters and yield of cane, sugar, juice and ethanol were significantly higher due to application of 150 kg N/ha and following spatial arrangement of 60x15 cm. The juice extraction and its quality (brix, sucrose and available sugar) were also enhanced significantly with a combination of N 150 kg/ha N and 60x15 cm spacing.
