STUDIES ON EFFECT OF MOISTURE CONTENT ON DEHULLING EFFICIENCY OF GROUNDNUT TESTA REMOVER FOR GROUNDNUT KERNELS

O. S. Kushwah, B. S. Gholap and M. Singh

Abstract

The effects of various combinations of moisture contents with feed rate and speed of roller on the dehulling efficiency and machine capacity of groundnut variety ICGS-37 were evaluated. The different levels of moisture content resulted in kernels with completely different dehulling efficiency, kernels with high moisture content (10.49% w.b.) had the highest splits/broken and mealy waste whereas low moisture content levels (7.39% w.b.) resulted in the highest dehulling efficiency. The best dehulling efficiency of groundnut testa remover was found to be 80.37% at 7.29% moisture content of kernels at feed rate of 40 kg/hr with 1.225 and 1.083 mps roller speed respectively. The best machine capacity of groundnut testa remover was found to be 27.72 kg/hr at 7.29% moisture content. of kernels at feed rate of 40 kg/hr with 1.366 mps roller speed.
