STUDIES ON CORRELATION AND PATH ANALYSIS IN RABI ONION (ALLIUM CEPA L.)

B.S.K. Nikhil, A.S. Jadhav and Sravan Kumar

Abstract

Correlation and path analysis was studied for twenty onion genotypes. In Rabi onion yield was significantly and positively correlated with average bulb weight (0.998) followed by equatorial diameter (0.976). While, days to maturity (-0.558) showed negative correlation with yield. In Rabi onion average bulb weight showed positive direct effect on yield (0.162), equatorial diameter (0.243) and polar diameter (0.253) had also positive direct effect on yield. The residual effect determines how best the causal factors account for the variability of the dependent factors, yield in this case. Its estimate being 0.308 in Rabi onion explained about 69.20 per cent of variability in the yield in Rabi onion This indicated that, the reasonable proportion of the variability was captured in Onion germplasm.
