COMPARATIVE EFFICACY OF DIFFERENT INSECTICIDES AGAINST APHIDS (APHIDIDAE: HOMOPTERA) AND THRIPS (THRIPIDAE: THYSANOPTERA) OF CHILLI

Abstract

Three insecticides namely Thiomethoxam 25 WG (30 g/acre, 40 g/acre), Buprofenzin 25 EC (120 mL, 240 mL/acre), Thiocloprid 21.7% SC (150, 200 mL/acre) were evaluated for their efficacy against aphids and thrips, the studies were conducted during kharif 2013 at Bharti Field Fresh Farm, Ladhowal, Ludhiana. There was a significant difference in all the treatments of insecticides applied after five, seven and fifteen days of spray. Five days after the insecticides application the results showed that all the treatments were significantly better than the control. Thiocloprid 21.7% SC @ 200 m2 per acre and Buprofenzin 25 EC @ 240 mL per acre were the most effective insecticide desages for managing aphid and thrips populations, respectively.
