STUDY OF DIFFERENT FORMS OF SULPHUR, CHEMICAL PROPERTIES AND THERE CORRELATION FROM OMERGA TAHSIL OF OSMANABAD DISTRICT (MS)Sunita Watane, A.N. Puri and O.Y. HireyAbstract The present investigation was carried out to study the status of different fractions of sulphur in soils of Omerga tahsil (administrative area) of Osmanabad district. For this perpose total 180 soil samples were collected from each villiage 2 soil samples of Entisols (0-10 cm), Inceptisols (10-30cm) and Vertisols (>30) were collected. These soil samples were analyzed for physico-chemical properties (pH, EC, OC and CaCO3) and status of different forms of sulphur. The data showed that the soils of Omerga tahsil (Entisols, Inceptisols and Vertisols) were neutral to alkaline in soil reaction, safe in EC, low to medium in OC and non-calcareous to calcareous in nature. Among the different forms of sulphur, water soluble sulphur and organic sulphur were found low in status i.e. 26.52, 37.78, 23.71 mg kg-1 and 6.63, 57.87, 51.14 mg kg-1 in Entisols, Inceptisols and Vertisols, respectively. Whereas in other forms, total S were found low to medium i. e. 2792.5, 2675, 2800 mg kg-1, available S 24.45, 25.41, 27.05 mg kg-1 and Non-sulphate S found to be 2819, 2598.05 and 3177 mg kg-1 in Entisols, Inceptisols and Vertisols, respectively. Correlation between physico-chemical properties and forms of sulphur, non-sulphate sulphur, water soluble sulphur were negatively but significantly correlated with pH and EC, in Entisols, Inceptisols and Vertisols.
