Abstract

The nanospheres embedded drug delivery system uses iron oxide Fe(2-3)O(3-4) nanoparticles coated with chitosan. Chitosan nanospheres have gained more attention as drug delivery carriers because of their better stability, low toxicity, simple, cost effective preparation method, and providing versatile routes of administration. The coating was performed simultaneously with the synthesis of the ferrite nanoparticles by poly ionic gelation method. Dynamic light-scattering (DLS) and a X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) were used to measure the average diameter of the coated nanoparticles. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) measurements showed strong bonding of the chitosan molecules to the surfaces of the ferrite nanoparticles. Furthermore, chitosan nanospheres also have been proved to be a good adjuvant for vaccines. This work has been performed by a simple preparation technique involving chitosan nanospheres using a model drug (rose bengal) to analyze its release kinetics and to evaluate the degradation kinetics of the prepared nanospheres, the application of explored chitosan nanoparticles, and the mechanism of cell entry.
