VIRULENCE ANALYSIS AND GENETIC DIVERSITY OF XANTHOMONOS ORYZAE PV. ORYZAE STRAINS IN TAMILNADU STATE, SOUTHERN INDIAS. Bharathkumar and S.S. GnanamanickamAbstract In virulence analysis, two pathotypes based on disease reaction on near isogenic rice lines and three pathotypes on rice differentials were revealed in major rice cultivating areas of Tamilnadu. In this analysis, almost all the isolates were found to be virulent to those NILs which harbored a single resistant gene (Xa4, xa5, Xa7, Xa10 and xa13) for BB resistance but not to those NILs which harbored either a 2-gene/3-gene/4- gene combinations (i.e. IRBB52 having Xa4/Xa21 gene combination). In genetic diversity analysis, two major clusters at 48% similarity were documented using JEL1 and JEL2 primers.
