Abstract

To investigate the possibility of replacing pit with the compost spent two years and one year in the production of white button mushroom; this test was done in a completely randomized factorial design with two replications at the Institute of Agriculture, University of Zabol. The results showed that the performance of edible mushroom was not affected by the applied compost and leaching treatments. EDTA treatment caused negative effects on yield of button mushroom and consequently, the mushroom yield reduced. Moreover, the results of this study showed that Pete was the best ground cover for production of edible mushrooms. From these results, it can be concluded that Pete cannot be replaced by any of the ground covers tested in this study.
