Abstract

An experiment was carried out to find out the influence of exogenous application of plant growth regulators on photosynthetic activity of cashew variety Bhaskara. Net photosynthetic rate (PN) was maximum in all four quadrants (E-East, W-West, S-South and N-North) between 11-12 hours. Stomatal conductance (gs) was similar in all quadrants. Irradiance was more important for PN and gs . The highest PN was recorded in the trees sprayed with GA3 @ 50 ppm and Ethrel @ 50 ppm. In this study all trees sprayed with plant growth regulators significantly increased PN compared to control. The amount of carbohydrates depends on the rate of the leaves photosynthesis which inturn also depends on the leaf photosynthetic capacity. Control plants recorded lowest net photosynthetic rate (PN) and stomatal conductance (gs).
