Abstract

A field experiments were conducted during rabi season of 2010 and 2011 in vertisols. To study the effect of different pre and post emergence herbicides with hand weeding on growth and yield of lentil crop (Lentil culinaris M.). The previous results revealed that highest seed yield was obtained with two hand weeding at 20 and 40 days after sowing. But, during this experiment shows that better results statistically when post emergence application of imazethapyr @ 37.5 g a.i./ha at 30 DAS. The highest weed control efficiency and lowest weed biomass was recorded with two hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS followed by application of imazethapyr @ 37.5 g a.i./ha at 30 DAS. Application of quizalofop ethyl @ 50 g a.i./ha at 30 DAS also reduced weed biomass and improved seed yield and yield attributing parameters as compared to weedy check.
