EVALUATION OF MUNG BEAN GENOTYPES AGAINST THRIPS (MEGALEUROTHRIPS DISTALIS) IN TERAI REGION OF WEST BENGAL, INDIAS. Chakraborty, N. Chaudhuri and S.K. SenapatiAbstract Mung bean genotypes (24 nos.) were evaluated in field against thrips (Megaleurothrips distalis) in terai region of West Bengal. It was revealed that lower populations of thrips were observed on genotypes like Sbl-17(a)- 1/4 (0.03-1.97/plant), A-228 (0.47-1.97/plant), NBM-100 (0.10-2.27/plant) and Sbl-17(a)-6/2 (0.03-2.93/plant) and on Sbl-17(a)-1/4 (0.03-1.77/plant), Sbl-17(a)-6/2 (0.10-1.67/plant) MLD-95-21 (0.20-1.90/plant), A-33 (0.23- 2.50/plant) and A-228 (0.33-2.33/plant) in pre-kharif and post kharif seasons respectively. Relatively higher levels of infestations were recorded on A-267 (0.13-7.57/plant), Pusa-Baishakhi (0.83-6.63/plant) and PDM- 84-143 (0.50-6.53/plant) in pre kharif season and on A-267 (0.20-5.07/plant), Pusa-Vishal (0.47-4.13/plant), PDM-84-143 (0.37-4.10/plant) and Pusa-Baishakhi (0.23-3.77/plant) in post kharif season. Phenol and OD phenol was found responsible for low thrips population.
