CARBONACEOUS NANOPARTICLE - AN OVERVIEW

T. ESAKKIMUTHU AND D. SIVAKUMAR

Abstract

Nanotechnology is defined as the manipulation of matter with at least one dimension sized from 1 to 100 nanometre. In addition to making nanomaterials and products with less impact to the environment, green nanotechnology also means using nanotechnology to make current manufacturing processes for non-nano materials and products more environmental friendly. Green nanotechnology has the beneficial goals by producing nanomaterials and products without harming the environment or human health, and producing nano-products that provide solutions to environmental problems. The principal way nanotechnologies might help alleviate water problems by solving the technical challenges and by removing water contaminants including pathogens, harmful chemicals like heavy metals, pesticides and salt pose etc. This paper deals with the carbon based nanoparticle. Carbon materials are a class of significant and widely used engineering adsorbent. Carbon nanoparticles are one of the most widely used type of adsorbents in water treatment, because of their several merits: broad-spectrum removal capability toward pollutants, chemical inertness, and thermal stability.
