Abstract

A study was conducted to assess seasonal variation in physicochemical and microbiological quality of drinking water of Edamulakkal panchayat in Kollam district of Kerala state. A total of 63 well water samples, 21 each during three different seasons, viz. pre-monsoon, monsoon and post monsoon were collected during the year 2007-2008 and analyzed for various physico-chemical parameters. All the water characteristics except pH, iron and coliforms were found within the quality tolerance limits of drinking water as per BIS. The amount of fluoride was below the desirable level.
