BIODIVERSITY OF OSTRACODS IN PUDUR LAKE, TAMILNADU, INDIAN. UMA CHANDRA, K. REVATHI2 AND V. REKHAAbstract Ostracod diversity was studied in Pudur Lake, Tamil Nadu for a period of two years during January, 2004 to December, 2005. A total of eight varieties of Ostracods were recorded during the study period of which Cypris sp., Ilyocypris sp., Hemicypris sp., Chrissia sp., Centrocypris sp. and Indiacypris sp. were the genera identified out of which Ilyocypris bradyi is reported for the first time from Tamilnadu. The detailed description of the Ostracods recorded during this study is presented for substantiating the taxonomic relevance of the study.
