SPECIES COMPOSITION OF FRUIT FLIES, BACTROCERA SPP. (DIPTERA: TEPHRITIDAE) IN GUAVA ORCHARD OF AHMEDNAGAR DISTRICT (MAHARASHTRA), INDIA

Abstract

Studies on species of fruit fly complex were conducted in guava orchard of Ahmednagar region. Five fruit fly species viz., Bactrocera dorsalis, Bactrocera zonata, Bactrocera correcta, Bactrocera verbascifoliae and Bactrocera cucurbitae were trapped. Out of these, B. dorsalis was attracted towards methyl eugenol followed by B. zonata. B. cucurbitae was attracted to the cue lure in guava orchards. The fruit fly species complex emerged from infested guava fruits composed B. dorsalis, B. zonata, B. correcta and B. verbascifoliae.
