Abstract

The buried pipelines have important role in human life. This Structures Suffer from earthquakes and other seismic loads. This paper reports effect of various materials on behavior of buried pipeline in soil, under seismic load and also effect of materials on stress and displacement of pipe line. Materials of pipes are ductile cast, steel, polyethylene, GRP. Diameter of pipe is 1200 mm and thickness is 20mm. Pipe buried in depth of 4, meter from ground surface. Seismic load is according to El-Centro earthquake. In this study, finite element models of the pipeline and soil are established using the package ABAQUS. The results show that due to good hardness, steel and ductile cast have higher stress than other pipe materials. All stress plots showed stresses on pipelines are less than its yield stress, so there is no plastic strain and plastic deformation. Displacement plots showed displacement on the polyethylene pipe increased about hundred percent than steel pipe.
