IMPACT OF NUALGI ON HISTOPATHOLOGICAL ALTERATION IN THE GILLS OF FISH, GLOSSOGOBIUS GIURIS(HAM) BROUGHT BY NEEM OIL

P. MAMATHA AND M. RAMACHANDRA MOHAN

Abstract

The experiments in the paper are mainly of hypertrophy of gills was that induced in the fish, Glossogobius giurisby the administration of “Azadirachtin “a component of neem oil. The efficacy of Azadirachtin and nualgi combination was evaluated. Interestingly, the combination of Azadirachtin and nualgi drug has effect on normalization of hypertrophy of gills. Though the Azadirachtin brought changes like lifting of gill lamellae, fusion of secondary lamellae and edema condition is very much evident along with Hyperplasia, hyperemia and hypertrophy of secondary lamellar epithelial cells in the gills of Fish, Glossogobius giuris. Diatoms are a major group of algae which are the most common type of phytoplankton. The introduction of Nualgi, the micronutrient, at various intervals at different concentrations brings varying responses to gill architecture, further the investigation reveals that the Nualgi can produce enormous oxygen by photosynthetic activity and thereby control water pollution by absorbing the carbon dioxide. Fish and Shell fish are economically important food sources and their survivality may increase due to good oxygen levels and less Eutrophication situation. The work on Gills, in the present context is more relevant since it is vulnerable to water soluble toxicants or micro organisms.
