Abstract

Water, an integral element of life, poses the greatest challenge to the future of Planet Earth. Its increased demand with population rise, economic development, and shrinking supplies due to over exploitation and pollution contribute to this. In developing country like India, the demand for water is increasing both in urban and rural areas. The emerging scarcity of water raises concern over health, sustainability and security. So, it is important that every human activity – economic or domestic, attempts to conserve water. This paper presents the case study of effective water management (Recycling and reuse) in an I.T. Park Building A specific waste water treatment initiative using the option of Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) technology for an operational “Green” IT campus is discussed in detail. The paper outlines technology deployment process, its merits, demerits and the resultant savings in terms of fresh water consumption.
