Abstract

Work has been carried out to study the biotransformation of ferulic acid using a Streptomyces isolate S10. The phenolic acid(s) were identified and quantitated by TLC/HPLC. The degradation product was further confirmed by ESI-MS analysis. When glucose was added as a supplementary carbon source to the medium, a 5-fold increase in the production of vanillin was observed.
