ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF CRUDE ECTOCARP EXTRACT OF POMEGRANATE (PUNICA GRANATUM L.) AGAINST SOME SELECTED ENTEROPATHOGENIC BACTERIAA. SHAJAHAN AND S. RAMESHAbstract Antibacterial activity of crude ectocarp extract of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) against four enteropathogenic bacteria such as Escherichin coli, Salmonella typhi, Shigella dysenteriae and Vibrio cholerae were studied under in vitro condition. The effect of the extract against pathogens was tested by disc diffusion technique. All the test organisms were found to be highly susceptible to the extract.
