SUBMERGED FERMENTATION OF PHYTASE BY ASPERGILLUS NIGER AND ASPERGILLUS FLIMIGATUSS. MOHAN, M. VIJAY ANTONY, AND P. KASINATHANAbstract Phytase production by Asporgillus Inger and Aspergillus fumigatus under submerged fermentation process with different substrates revealed that, both the species have shown maximum production in what bran at 2% concentration. Yeast extract as nitrogen source have exposed the maximum phytase production at 0.5% concentration. The optimum pH was found to be 5.5. The effect of pH on phytase activity have shown two distinct pH optima at 2.5 and 5.0. Optimum temperature for phytase activity were 55°C for Aspergillus niger and sac for Aspergillus fumigatus. The obtained phytases had feed pelleting thermostability. These species were designated as thermotollerant isolates.
