Abstract

Mixed cultures of cells immobilized on 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm3 pumice stone pieces, Bubble column type bioreactors were set up using pumice-supported biocatalyst for degrading phenol and starch containing wastewaters. The organisms showed 71% and 60.4% degradation of phenol and starch respectively.
