KAPILA MANOJ and PATEL HIMANSFILI R.

Abstract

In the present study the lentic environment created by the weir cum causeway at Rander, was sampled monthly for a period of six months. This study was aimed to evaluate the stress created by the impoundment of free flowing river by the weir. The five stations were selected. Among them one station is at the estuarine environment and other four are in the fresh water zone. It was revealed from this short term investigation that the aquatic habitat near the weir was adversely affected by over enrichment of nutrients supplied by the sewage and other sources.
