DEGRADATION OF ENDOSULFAN BY MICROCOCCIIS SP. AND PARTIAL CHARACTERIZATION OF METABOLITESARIJIT GUHA, BABITA KUMARI, TARUN C. BORA and MONO) K. ROYAbstract Degradation of endosulfan by plasmid harbouring and cured strains of two different Micrococcus sp. was studied in MM in presence and absence of glucose. Metabolites formed thereby, were separated and partially characterized by TLC, UV, IR, NMR and Mass spectra analysis. From the findings, it was evident that the plasmids of Micrococcus sp. were involved in intermediary steps in the degradation of endosulfan.
