QUANTITATIVE SIMULATION OF RAVANSAR AQUIFER USING MODFLOWSaeid Shabanlou, Ali Aghaee and Mohsen Soleymani BabersadAbstract The purpose of this study is quantitative simulation of Ravansar aquifer located in the west of Iran with area of 370 square Km. In this study the groundwater hydraulic flow model was run and then observation and pumping wells data entered into the software and finally all of piezometers data input to the software for calibration of the model. The tools used in this study are PMWIN (Processing MODFLOW for Windows) software package for hydraulic simulation of groundwater flow and PEST computer code for calibration of data. After collecting the useful data from relevant organizations in Kermanshah Province and providing the geographical maps and GIS maps and all of essential data to run the software, the calibration of the model was performed, then we run the software and extracted output files include contour maps, graphical maps, graphs and Water Budget tables. We concluded from reviewing of extracted maps and graphs of water table and compare them with Water Budget tables that rate of recharge is significantly less than discharge of pumping wells and thus after a defined time period we will have water table drops that this process could be a serious issue in drought years and should be considered accordingly.
