BIOMONITORING OF AIR POLLUTION BY CORRELATING THE POLLUTION TOLERANCE INDEX OF SOME COMMONLY GROWN TREES OF AN URBAN AREA

Abstract

Selected plants from Nagpur city were analysed for the Air Pollution Tolerance Index (APT!) to moniter the level of air pollution. Around 50% of the plants were found be sensitive to (10% being be highly sensitive). The plants which were able to tolerate the pollution were very few namely Halo ptelea spp. and Cassia spp. as indicated by there high APTI index.
