STUDIES ON THE EFFECTS OF FLUORIDE ON THE WATER RELA- TIONS OF VIGNA SINENSIS AND TRITICUM AESTIVLINISONAL TOMAR AND N.C. AERYAbstract Water relations (RWC, WW, TS and 'VP) and stomata( frequency were studied in three months old plants of Vivra sinensis and Triticuin aestivinn treated with different concentrations (50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 ig/g) of fluoride in the soil. A high stomata' frequency was associated with control and 800 pg/g of fluoride content indicating the movement of fluoride through the plants in the transpiration stream. Lower concentrations of 50 and 100pg/g exhibited lower stomata' frequency. RWC in both the crops increased with lower concentrations (50 p.g/g) and decreased with the higher concentrations (800 p.g/g) of fluoride applied. Water potential and Turgor potentials increased in lower concentrations and decreased in higher concentrations of fluoride. In both the test crops Osmotic potential showed an opposite trend.
