OCCURRENCE OF HEAVY METALS IN LENTIC WATER OF GWALIOR REGIONS. KAUSHIK, B.K. SAHU, R.K. LAWANIA AND R.K. TIWARI
Water samples collected from three lentic water bodies (Motijheel. Surajkund and Ranitah of Gwalior region have been analysed from July-90 to June-91 for some heavy metals like Cu (0.017 to 0.034 mg/I), Zn (0.065 to 0.120 mg/1), Ni (below detection limit 0.001 mg/Ito 0.004 mg/1), Co (0.003 to 0.009 mg/1), Pb (0.002 to 0.009 mg/ I), Mn (0.009 to 0.016 mg/1), Cr (0.020 to 0.048 mg/1), Cd (0.009 to 0.019 mg/1) and As (all the values arc below the detection limit C.001 mg/I). Seasonally lowest and highest values of all the parameters (except arsenic) are recorded during summer and rainy season respectively in all the three water bodies. All the values of all the heavy metals parameters arc found below the limit prescribed by different agencies.
