Water samples collected from three lentic water bodies (Motijheel. Surajkund and Ranitah of Gwalior region have been analysed from July-90 to June-91 for some heavy metals like Cu (0.017 to 0.034 mg/I), Zn (0.065 to 0.120 mg/1), Ni (below detection limit 0.001 mg/Ito 0.004 mg/1), Co (0.003 to 0.009 mg/1), Pb (0.002 to 0.009 mg/ I), Mn (0.009 to 0.016 mg/1), Cr (0.020 to 0.048 mg/1), Cd (0.009 to 0.019 mg/1) and As (all the values arc below the detection limit C.001 mg/I). Seasonally lowest and highest values of all the parameters (except arsenic) are recorded during summer and rainy season respectively in all the three water bodies.
