BACTERIOLOGICAL STATUS OF DRINKING WATER IN AND AROUND CHIKHLI TOWN OF BULDANA DISTRICT, MAHARASHTRA

Abstract

A study was conducted to assess the bacteriological quality of ground water and surface water of Chikhli and the Vlllug around 15 km radius of Chikhh town. There is no regular water supply. Hence people move to unsafe water. 150 samples from dug wells and tubewells, 20 samples from rivers were analyzed for Coliforms, faecal conforms and E.coli count. The present study showed that all the well water and river water have poor quality. 40% of the tubewell water samples were free from microbial population.
