P.L.K.M. RAO, P.L. SMEDLEY AND K. SITA DEVI

Abstract

Presented are the results of an investigative study carried out to assess the existing quality of drinking water in some identified village of Delang Block. The study indicated high incidents of Ferrous Iron and salinity. The high concentration of iron appears to be resulted from rusting of material rusting in the construction of hand pump and high salinity is due to ingression of sea water. The concentration of iron in these waters is beyond permissible limits set for drinking water standards and is responsible for rejection of these waters by users in these village.
