Kumar Nikhil

Abstract

Screening of plant species, time and placement of sapling of herbs, shrubs and grasses on the overburden dump for re-vegetation requires suitable tillage practices. Making suitable pit size, placement of coding, fertilizer and soil weeding and hoeing, spraying of insecticides/pesticides, mulching, etc. require some basic principles. These tillage practices were in general, adopted for one or two years of re-vegetation program on the overburden dumps. Stress has been given to the regular workout of important tillage practices for the continuous improvement of physico- chemical and biological environment of the overburden dump to sustain the re-vegetation without any failure. In this paper, tillage practices with their importance and the drawback due to noncompliance were discussed in brief.
