STUDIES ON WATER POLLUTION OF RIVER MAUSAM MALEGAON (M.S.)Ziya Ansari,Y.D.Sonawane & S.N. NandanAbstract Hydrobiological study of algae was carried out on Mausam river flowing through Malegaon city of Maharashtra from September I 992 to August I 9 94. Algal and water samples were collected at monthly intervals from 4 stations of mausam river during the period of two years of investigation. The most pollution tolerant genera and species of 4 groups of algae viz Bacillariophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae and Euglenineae were recorded for 4 stations. the assessment of water quality of river was made for 4 stations by algal communities. The data of physico - chemical analysis is also supported for the study of pollution of Mausam river.
