IN VITRO STUDIES OF CADMIUM CHLORIDE ON BRAIN ACETYLCHOLINESTERASES OF MUG!! CEPHALUS A MARINE TELEOSTHande R.S., *Patil S.M. and Sharma B.B.Abstract Cadmium is one of the pollutants found in marine environment.This study deals with the invitro effect of Cadmium on Acetylcholinesterases (AChE-EC 3.1.1.7.) form brain of marine teleost Mugii cepholus. The enzyme was assayed by U.V. Scanned Spectrophotometer (U.V. 2100 Chemito).The results were analysed in terms of Michaelis constant (Km) and V max. It was observed that the Cadmium exerted the inhibitory effect on cytoplasmic and membrane bound fractions ofAChE. In both the cases the Km and V max were altered.The efficiency of enzyme was computed in terms of Vmax I Km ratio.
