EFFECT OF SELECTED INSECTICIDES ON NITROGEN TRANSFORMATIONS IN GROUNDNUT SOILS

R. Jaya Madhuri and V. Rangaswamy

Abstract

Application of selected insecticides upto 5 kg. ha' stimulated the mineralization of peptone-N, but the activity was more pronounced at 2.5 kg. ha-1 for 2 weeks of incubation. Whereas in nitrification, it was more significant at 2.5 kg. ha-1, insecticide concentration, at 4 weeks time interval. Both the activities are significantly stimulated with methyl parathion treatment in black and red soils of groundnut fields.
