BIOMASS DYNAMICS OF THE MACROPHYTES OF IKOP LAKE, MANIPURCh. Nivanonee and B. Manihar SharmaAbstract Ikop lake is a freshwater. eutrophic lake situated in the south eastern part of imphal at a distance of about 40 km. with an area of 13.5 sq.km in the thoubal district, Manipur. It lies at an altitude of 772m MSL. Biomass was estimated for 19 microphytes which were found to occur dominantly during Oct. 1998 Sept 2000. Maximum Biomass value was exibited by hydrilla verticillata in site I and site II . whereas Azolla pinnato and ceratophyllum demersum exibited maximum biomass value in site III and site IV respectively.
