PLANT NUTRIENT RESPORVEIS TO CHROMIUM UPTAKE IN MAIZE (ZEA MAYS L. CY. GANGA 5)

D. C. Sharma

Abstract

The effect of chromium (Cr) on iron, manganese, zinc and copper has been studied in maize (Zea maze. L. cv. Gan2a 5) under controlled glass house conditions. Despite foliar symptoms of interveinal chlorosis, iron concentration in general, was found to be increased in response to chromium supply. Maximum Fe concentration was found in roots followed by old leaves and young leaves at all the Cr supply levels. The concentrations of Mn, Zn and Cu were found to be affected due to Cr supply. The uptake of Cr. was significant in roots in comparison to other plant parts.
