EFFECTS OF URBAN AIR POLLUTI N OFL NUCLEIC ACID CONTENTS OF SOME PLANTSO.P. Joshi, J. Sikka and D.K. WagelaAbstract Present study deals with the effect of urban air pollution stresses on nucleic acid contents. Mature leaves of C. sissoo. Eucalyptus (hybrid), E. Jambolana. F. religiosa. Al. indica and C inerme were sampled in winter season from Industrial. Textile mill and Road side areas of lndore city and estimation was done. A decreasing trend in nucleic acid contents was recorded in all the areas. C. inerme exhibited rise in RNA content also in all study areas while DNA content increased in F. religiosa and M. indicam road side only. C. siamea was found to be least affected for nucleic acid contents.
