Abstract

The effect of automobile wastewater (25,50, 75 and 100%) was studied on seed germination and seedling growth of black gram (Vigna mungo). The biometric attributes showed a decrease with increased concentration of the effluent. The best germination and seedling growth was observed in 25% concentration. Undiluted effluent had an inhibitory effect whereas 25% effluent concentration had a growth promoting effect, which was better than control. Thus automobile wastewater can be used safely for irrigation purpose at proper dilution (25%) for beneficial cultivation.
