SUPPRESSION OF PATHOGENIC ACTIVITY BY DUAL INOCULATION AND THE EFFECT OF SOME BIOCIDES ON AM INOCULATED ENDEMIC TREES OF WESTERN GHATSK. Vijayakumar and T.K. AbrahamAbstract Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) and rhizosphere fungal organisms associated with three endemic trees were isolated. Frequency of occurrence of fungi in the rhizosphere was estimated. Rapidly infecting AM fungi of these trees were identified and inoculated to assess its influence on growth parameters.AM inoculation has significantly increased biomass production after 90 days of treatment. Suppression of pathogenic effect was observed when the frequently observed root pathogen, Fusarium oxysporum was inoculated along with AM fungi. Pesticide at recommended level significantly affected AM development. Mycorrhizal colonization increased the total and specific P uptake while it lowered the efficiency of P utilization.
