Abstract

The study deals with the ground water pollution in Kothur industrial area, Mahaboobnagar due to the disposal of industrial effluents. Many textile and ceramic industries are located in this area and are generating large amount of effluents. Eighteen samples are analysed for twelve physico-chemical parameters of ground water - pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, total alkalinity, total hardness, calcium, magnesium, sodium, chlorides, sulphates, nitrates and fluorides. All the parameters except nitrates and fluorides are in high concentrations, most of them above the permissible units and are responsible for ground water and surface water pollution. The water is not fit for drinking.
